Over the past eight years, the continued success of this program is a result of collaboration between industry and our partners, the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Police Service, who are helping to address alcohol-related harms and promote responsible consumption.”
Alain Maisonneuve, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer, AGLC.

"I'd like to acknowledge the bars, pubs, hotel bars, restaurants and clubs that have achieved Best Bar None accreditation. Participation in Best Bar None is voluntary and becoming accredited is a time-intensive process. Those who have chosen to participate are showing their commitment to considerate business practices and care of their patrons. I thank you, the City thanks you."
Scott McKeen, Councillor, City of Edmonton
“The BBN partnership works for the Edmonton Police Service because everyone is working from the same playbook; they know what they have to do and they just do it. It brings efficiencies that mean police members can move on to the next call, and that benefits everyone.”
Sergeant Michelle Horchuk, Hospitality Policing Unit, Edmonton Police Service (EPS)
Best Bar None is an accreditation and awards program for liquor-licensed venues that aims to reduce alcohol-related problems by:
- encouraging establishments to adopt best practices related to customer safety and responsible levels of alcohol;
- giving establishments the tools to be better prepared for any alcohol-related harms; and
- building positive relationships between the industry, enforcement, agencies, government and community.
Edmontonians can determine if a venue is Best Bar None accredited by a plaque and door signage on display within the premises informing patrons and area residents of their participation in the program or by visiting bestbarnone.ca.
Best Bar None is a partnership between AGLC, the City of Edmonton and Edmonton Police Service with support from the Alberta Safer Bars Council.
