Grande Prairie nightspots continue their commitment for a safer night out

The sixth annual Best Bar None (BBN) program in Grande Prairie highlighted ongoing efforts of local hospitality establishments to demonstrate responsible liquor service and patron safety.

For 2019, 13 venues followed top service standards to become BBN accredited.

•    Boston Pizza Northside •    Madhatters
•    Boston Pizza Westgate •    The Den Pub and Carvery
•    Brown's Social House Westgate •    The Industry
•    Crown and Anchor Pub •    Trumps Lounge
•    Diamond's Gentleman Club  

 

From this group, four venues also won awards for continuing to raise the bar on customer service and patron safety:

Bar/Club: Madhatters
Casino: Great Northern Casino
Campus Bar: Howlers Lounge (Grande Prairie Regional College)
Lounge: Boston Pizza Westgate

The second annual BBN Grande Prairie People’s Choice Awards were presented to the winning venues. Members of the public were able to vote for their favourite accredited establishment between August 19 – September 2.

The winners are:

Best Bar: Madhatters
Best Food: Madhatters
Best Staff: Madhatters

Already operating in more than 160 accredited establishments in Edmonton, Calgary, Banff and Lethbridge, the BBN program aims to reduce alcohol-related problems by:

  • encouraging businesses to adopt best practices related to customer safety and responsible service of alcohol;
  • giving businesses the tools to be better prepared for any violent incidents; and,
  • building positive relationships between the industry, enforcement agencies, governments and community.

The program is a partnership between AGLC, the City of Grande Prairie Crime Prevention, Enforcement Services, Fire Department and the RCMP.
