AGLC expands access to responsible gambling support

Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) launched the GameSense Info Line today, expanding the reach of the GameSense responsible gambling program. The dedicated phone service complements the in-person and online opportunities to connect patrons who have questions about gambling directly with an AGLC GameSense Advisor.

GameSense Advisors - located in casinos and racing entertainment centres across the province - provide information on how to play the games, the odds of winning and tips on how to keep gambling fun. Tools and resources are also available to help with balancing a player’s time and budget. GameSense Advisors are also equipped with information on AGLC’s Self-Exclusion Program, should players seek additional support.

“AGLC places a tremendous amount of importance on responsible gambling. This past year, GameSense has grown exponentially around the province, with the brand being added at the homes of the Oilers, Flames, Elks, Stampeders and both Edmonton and Calgary CEBL teams. In adding the GameSense Info Line, AGLC is providing another way players can access tools, resources and support to help keep gambling fun and entertaining.”

Kandice Machado, CEO, AGLC

At launch, the GameSense Info Line (1-833-447-7523) will operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Thursday – Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Winner’s Edge members and PlayAlberta.ca accounts will be able to access the numbers directly from their respective websites. Through increased awareness and expanded access, AGLC is anticipating that more Albertans will seek out responsible gambling information and tools.

The Info Line will supplement Alberta Health Services Addiction Hot Line and players who are seeking further support or treatment will be redirected to AHS.
