Alberta football fans get first try at Super Bowl sports betting

Los Angeles is currently a 4.5-point favourite against Cincinnati.

St. Albert… The crown jewel of the National Football League (NFL) season takes place this Sunday in Los Angeles, California. For the first time ever, PlayAlberta.ca and AGLC are excited to offer a variety of odds to players, such as Money Line, Spread and Total for the 2022 Super Bowl on Alberta’s only regulated gambling website.

Sunday’s conclusion to the NFL season marks a matchup of two teams that bettors in Alberta liked significantly this season. The Los Angeles Rams are the second most popular futures bet on PlayAlberta.ca to win the Super Bowl. The Cincinnati Bengals began the season with astronomical odds of 100 to 1 and are the seventh most popular team to win it all. That didn’t stop one player in mid-October from backing the Bengals and Edmonton Oilers, parlaying the two to win their respective league titles at odds of 2400 to 1.

“AGLC’s regulated gambling website was launched in September 2020 with the goal of providing legal-aged adults in the province an entertainment option in a safe environment. When single-event sports wagering arrived on PlayAlberta.ca last fall, sports fans were given their own opportunity to ensure that money played in Alberta, stays in Alberta while supporting programs and services that people rely on every day.”

Kandice Machado, President & Chief Executive Officer, AGLC

PlayAlberta.ca continues to offer players safe and secure deposits through Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard and Mastercard Debit and has now expanded the deposit options to include Interac Online. The website is accessible to Albertans over 18 and physically located within the province’s border through browsers on desktop, smartphones and tablets.

As Albertans watch this Sunday’s game, AGLC would like to remind legal-aged Albertans of the GameSense tools available on Play Alberta. Players have access to resources that promote healthy gambling habits, including loss, bet and daily session limits and the Self-Exclusion Program.

AGLC is mandated to ensure the province’s gaming industry is carefully managed to maximize the benefits to Albertans. In 2020-21, more than $773 million in net gaming income was generated for the General Revenue

Fund, which supports programs and services that Albertans rely on every day.

Albertans can stay up-to-date with new developments on PlayAlberta.ca by visiting the website or following @PlayAlbertaCA on Facebook and Twitter.
