News Release

New and improved sportsbook on PlayAlberta.ca launching in August

Switch to new sportsbook provider will strengthen sports betting options for players.

The 2023 sports calendar is set to reach a fever-pitch over the next several weeks, with the return of the NFL, NHL and MLB playoffs. PlayAlberta.ca is excited to announce a long-term partnership with BtoBet to assist in growth and improvement for the website’s sportsbook.

“Our team at AGLC continues to find ways to improve all aspects of PlayAlberta.ca. Partnering with BtoBet expands the sports betting options for users on Alberta’s only legal, gambling website. Soon, players can choose from a variety of new, pre-game props, in-game bets or unique, same-game parlays.”
Dan Keene, Vice President, Gaming,
AGLC

New features include player props for all major North American leagues (NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA), single game parlays, additional markets and leagues, additional outright bets and new promotional options such as boosted odds and parlay multipliers.

NeoGames, one of the two joint venture owners on NeoPollard, is the parent company of BtoBet and responsible for maintaining PlayAlberta.ca. Extending the partnership to include BtoBet ensures that a world class player experience will continue for all verticals on the website.

The fully-managed sportsbook will continue to integrate AGLC’s responsible gambling programs, GameSense and Self-Exclusion, giving players dedicated features that promote healthy gambling habits, such as bet, loss and daily session limits.

As PlayAlberta.ca goes through the sportsbook provider migration process, there will be an interruption to the sports betting service between August 12 and August 14, 2023. Players will still have access to their account and all other Play Alberta games during that time.

By using Play Alberta, money played in Alberta stays in Alberta. All revenue generated through Play Alberta goes to the provincial government to support valued programs and services that Albertans rely on every day. In 2022 – 23, $1.5 billion in net gaming income was generated for the province’s general revenue fund from all provincial gaming activities.
